[It's been a while since the "foreigners" stopped arriving in Johto.
Their absence is noticed, surely, due to the lack of confused posts on a biweekly basis; they had become more than a bit of a staple by the time they slowly trickled to a stop. It was counterbalanced, however, by the fact that the sudden disappearances had stopped as well; that...seemed to distress a few people, but Kimblee couldn't say he minded the new shift to the status quo. It seemed Johto had selected its chosen ones; they were going to be here for as long as it would have them.
He doesn't mention the other thing some of the members of Team Rocket had found out recently, the small fact that that Ashford person had brought to light via his particular form of problem-solving that often involved smashing someone's head in through some sort of berserker rage (or so Kimblee imagines, he's never seen the man kill but he's like Archer, entirely too tightly-wound for his own good, so he likes to think that when he lets loose he does so completely and utterly and the result is so pointlessly destructive it's beautiful).
People are no longer reappearing in the Centers after they die.
He isn't sure what he thinks about it; he imagines word has gotten around by now, just because that's a bizarre quirk for a world to have in the first place – and admittedly, it's also a dangerous one to get used to, and that's incredibly obvious now that it's no longer in place.
But for the most part he ignores it, even if he's a bit less reckless as a result; just the same, some things never change, and the usual routine when one of them wakes up in the middle of the night due to some sound or another outside is one of those things. Kimblee isn't sure whether he wakes up first or Isaac does, but the fact is that it's dark and neither of them are getting back to sleep, even if it's probably nothing (simply because it's always nothing).]
Shall we go see what it is this time...?

That thought is far from his mind tonight, however, because clearly something made that noise, even if he can't pinpoint what it was and exploring outside probably won't lead them to anything. This is a routine they've established though, and it's one Isaac doesn't hesitate to engage in.]

[He quickly pulls on something halfway presentable and then heads on outside. It's getting colder out, but the cold has never bothered Isaac.]

So really, he can't say he minds the routine.
As such, looking at least halfway presentable is something that's going to happen before they go anywhere; he leaves his makeup off but he's at least functionally dressed before they go out there, and he has Dorian's ball palmed in his hand before they go out.]

[Isaac doesn't mind splitting from Kimblee to check around the house; this is standard routine and nothing bad has ever happened. They can handle themselves, that's never been an issue.]

[It's funny, how standard routine dictating that you never find anyone manages to leave you completely unprepared for the day that you do; the first and completely asinine thought that occurs to him is an annoyed one, the realization that it's a bit too dark for him to see the person's face.
He doesn't know why they're here, or what it is they want; it occurs to him vaguely that perhaps they don't want anything, perhaps they're just here because this place is convenient and out-of-the-way. Perhaps they have a reason, it's possible they've found him out, that they know and they're here to settle something with "Seth" - in the end, it matters very little to him; he's sent out Dorian and without even considering he's set him on the trainer, and he's quickly made aware of the fact that this person is very probably here to deal with Seth, because the response is aimed at him rather than the Ninetales.
A few things register with him - the hit comes from low to the ground but it's clearly coming from an experienced creature, because it hits hard; it's unbelievably cold in a way that the outdoors isn't, it's caught him in a spot on the left side that's been pierced like this before, and it's most certainly a piercing injury rather than anything solid (probably Ice Beam, though it dissipates after the damage is done rather than just impaling him and staying there, it's not like the train) and his arm is quick to clamp down over the injury and try to stem whatever bloodflow may occur (and god, there's probably going to be blood, he remembers this from last time and there was a lot of blood).
He's able to find some stability by leaning back against the house (and he doesn't recall getting slammed up against it but apparently that's just something that happens when you're javelined by bullshit like this) and he's vaguely aware that whomever it is isn't staying around to finish him off, thanks to Dorian; he smiles a bit at that, closing his eyes as he does so, and he's vaguely aware that he probably looks a bit delirious but he can't really bring himself to care.
Dorian will kill them when he catches them, he's fairly sure. If he doesn't, his trainer will be disappointed.
He glances down once he can bring himself to open his eyes again, to try to make his breathing even out a little; that is a good amount of blood dampening his clothing, isn't it.]

What he does know is that there's something going on around the other side of the house, and Isaac immediately rushes over there, skidding to a halt when he notices Kimblee pressed up against the wall.
He knows something is very wrong even before he finally manages to approach.]
What happened? Are you alright?
[It's said with the sort of urgency that implies that he's asking and hoping for a better answer than he's expecting. Kimblee isn't looking all that great. It doesn't take him long to notice the blood either.]

[Isaac isn't a medical professional by any means and his knowledge of medicine is limited to basic first aid. He can't get a good look at the injury in this light, but that amount of blood definitely isn't a good sign.]
Can you move? We should... We need to get you to the Center.

[It's an inane statement and he knows it, and there's a light shudder behind his words; it's not quite a laugh but it's close.]

[He forces the word out after a moment; he can feel his breathing threaten to pick up again, and he tries to force himself to relax, to calm down.]

[Isaac tips his head slightly, obviously confused by what Kimblee's trying to tell him. He shakes his head after a moment.]
Look, we need to get you medical attention. The Center's not that far away. Let me help.

[That said, the answer is blunt, though it doesn't come without a good amount of hesitation before it; he can feel himself starting to shake, and he tries to brace himself again so he won't fall - he's starting to feel lightheaded, which can really only be a bad sign.]

[Isaac's terrified, but it doesn't show in his expression. His voice is a little shaky, but it might be hard to tell with just one word spoken. He reaches out to touch Kimblee's shoulder awkwardly, as though he can't decide whether or not this is a good idea. You aren't supposed to move someone who's injured, but Kimblee needs to be seen immediately...
He doesn't hesitate for too long, finally moving to pick Kimblee up bridal style.]

He can't be sure what makes him think of it (no, that's not right, he knows exactly why, doesn't he) but it's the first time he's heard Pride's voice in his head in months; to say that it doesn't help with the shaking is an understatement.]

[Thankfully he doesn't have to try to keep it together for long; the Pokémon Center is up ahead and Isaac is quick to get in contact with one of the nurses.

He's still alive, though it's difficult to say for how long; he's the sort to stay alive through sheer spite, after all. At the same time, that will only get one so far when the most that can be done is keeping him still and keeping him medicated to stave off the pain.

Some part of him is furious; Pokémon can be cured of poison, burns, and healed in an instant from any injuries, but they can't help Kimblee? It makes sense in some way - how often is it that humans are severely injured here? Most Pokémon aren't trained to attack humans, so they probably rarely suffer anything more serious than broken bones. There was probably no need to develop more advanced medicine for humans and now...
There's no sense getting upset at the poor nurse. She looks frightened, though whether that's because this is the most extensive injury she's seen or if it's Isaac's expression he can't tell. She finally leads him back to the room and slips out the door unnoticed.
Kimblee's probably been given a hell of a lot of painkillers by now. That's the best they can do for him, isn't it? Isaac knows he should be feeling something, but the most he can feel is irritation at the nurses for not being able to help. It's not even anger, just a mild emotion when he should be feeling so much more. Maybe it hasn't sunk in yet. He doesn't know.]

[He pulls up a chair and sits beside Kimblee, resting his hands on his knees and staring intently at the sheets. He's never been good at this, but he can't think of anything to say now.]

[At the very least he doesn't sound like he's in pain; his words are a bit breathless, a little too quiet. But he seems calm enough, if a bit like the medication is going to his head.]

[His voice shakes when he speaks. He's not entirely sure what to do now or what to say. Surely they've already told Kimblee. Isaac's certain that Kimblee isn't afraid of death and this probably doesn't bother him, but it's still not something Isaac wants him to go through.]
